ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The Translation Attached Translators Collective is a group of translators that
collaboratively translates Turkish short stories and poems into English. The group meets online for two hours on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5)/8 pm Turkey Standard Time (UTC+2) and on Thursdays at 5:30 pm EST to accommodate members who join us from countries around the world.

The collective was founded as the UToronto Workshop in Literary Translation: Turkish-English (WILTTE) in 2015 by Nefise Kahraman while she was working towards her PhD at the University of Toronto, and has continued translating and evolving ever since. The workshop is unique in its focus on translating Turkish literature into English in Canada.

We have thus far translated stories from such authors as Aziz Nesin, Selçuk Baran, and Nezihe Muhiddin, and we continue to work on our goal of expanding the availability of Turkish literature in English.

If you have any questions about the workshop or are interested in joining the collective, you can reach us via email.
